Noura, Jamila’s beautiful daughter, loves watermelon. In the morning she eats watermelon, at lunch she eats watermelon, and at dinner she eats watermelon. One evening, the mother put food on the table consisting of chicken and molokhia. But Noura got angry and said, “I don’t like chicken and I don’t like molokhia. I only like watermelon.” Her father said to her, “Chicken is beneficial, Noura, and molokhia tastes delicious.”

Noura shouted, “Watermelon, watermelon, I only want watermelon!” Her mother got angry and said firmly, “Molokhia first, Noura, then watermelon.” One evening, Noura entered the kitchen and saw a large watermelon on the kitchen table. She said, “I want to eat it all alone.” She carried it and put it under her bed to eat it after everyone slept. She slept thinking about the large watermelon under the bed.

At midnight, the girl felt her bed shaking. She opened her eyes and found that the watermelon had grown and grown, while her bed became hanging near the ceiling. Noura slid on the watermelon, saying, “How happy I am! All this watermelon is for me alone.”

Noura walked around the watermelon, opened the door, and entered the watermelon. She walked through a long passage until she reached a yellow-colored room. In it was a chair and a table made from watermelon seeds. The girl sat on the chair, saying, “How happy I am! All this watermelon is for me alone.”

Then Noura ate the first plate of watermelon and said, “How delicious watermelon is. I want more.” Another plate appeared to her, and Noura kept eating and saying, “I want more.” She wouldn’t finish from one plate until another appeared. Suddenly, Noura stopped eating, for she felt she was growing and the watermelon was shrinking. She grabbed her stomach and shouted, “Oh, oh, my stomach! I don’t want more.” Noura opened her eyes and found her mother beside her shaking her, saying, “What’s the matter, Noura?” Noura said, “The large watermelon under the bed ate me, then ate me.”

Then the mother took the watermelon from under the bed and said, “Who put the watermelon under the bed?” The girl said in shame, “Me, me. I’m sorry, Mom. I wanted to eat the watermelon all alone.” Then Noura carried the watermelon to the kitchen, returned to her bed, and slept. In the morning, Noura ate for breakfast a fried egg, bread, thyme, and drank milk.
