One day, the fox went out of the forest searching for food. He found nothing in his path except the turtle. When she saw him, she extended her head to him. When the fox saw the turtle’s head, he gritted his teeth and licked his saliva while panting and hurried to get her head, saying to himself: I must get her to satisfy my hunger. When he approached her, she put her head into her house, which is the weapon she defends herself with.

The fox began moving her with his legs in all directions but without benefit. Whenever he calmed a little and moved away from her, she would extend her head then return it to provoke him. The fox tried to attack her and use his claws and teeth to get at her, but her armored body prevented him from succeeding in harming her.

But the fox kept digging at what looked like a rock mass until his teeth began to bleed. Then he moved aside when he found no benefit in attacking her. When she felt the fox had moved away from her, she extended her head, and the fox became more agitated and angry. The fox would pounce on her, and she would hide her head inside her strong house, trying with all her might to extend her head, but he failed in that. The fox became tired due to the wounds in his mouth, and the turtle’s house was colored red from the fox’s blood due to his attack on her. Exhaustion had overcome him from the amount of blood that had bled from him, and the turtle remained steadfast, unaffected, resisting this cunning, cowardly enemy.

The fox sat aside, defeated and wounded in front of the turtle. During this, a bear passed by and saw blood flowing from his mouth. He said to him: I see you sad and tired, which is not your custom. What happened? The fox told him what had happened. The bear said to him: They say you are a cunning and smart fox, but you proved to be ignorant, evil, and stupid. You found in this vast plain only the weak turtle to attack, while she is peaceful and harms no one. When exposed to any enemy, she defends herself with this strong shield that God bestowed upon her to protect herself.

The bear said to him: The turtle taught you a lesson you will never forget, and you got from it nothing but failure and loss. You caused your teeth to break and wounds in your mouth, and you became unable to eat the simplest types of food. Perhaps you will die of hunger and humiliation if you remain in this condition. This is your reward and the reward of every oppressor, because you attacked a peaceful, weak turtle…
