While the merchant was eating, he found men torturing a dog, so he said to them why do you torture the dog like this? The thieves replied to him and said this is not your business, so he said rather it is my business, then he said to them I want to buy this dog now, so they said to him ask whatever you wish, by how much will you sell it? He said I want ten silver dirhams, so the merchant paid them and left the dog for the man.
So the merchant said to the dog from now you are free, you can go wherever you wish, the dog accompanied the man and sat in front of his room, but the thief men gathered to make a plan to steal the man and made a tight plan. At night the thieves infiltrated but the dog kept barking, so the men retreated again.
On the second day, the merchant paid the price of his stay in the room and left the place with the dog, and the thieves followed him. The merchant walked until he headed to the bank of the river and called the owner of a boat and asked him to cross the river, so he and the dog rode the boat. During the crossing, the thieves were hiding in the middle of an island in the river, so they stopped the boat and tied its owner and took from the merchant his money and tied him with ropes and put the merchant inside a large bag and threw him in the river. The dog jumped behind him and pulled the bag with his mouth until he reached another boat. The owner of the boat saw the bag, so he carried it and saved the merchant and provided him with the necessary first aid. When he regained consciousness, he said to the man hurry to help the boat owner, he is still there.
They told the police what happened to them, so they all went to the judge, and the judge said to his guards bring in the complainant, so he said to him oh judge I was subjected to robbery in your town and I want you to grant me justice, so the judge said to him tell me what happened in detail. So the merchant said a gang of thieves attacked me, they looted my money and put me in a bag and threw me in the river, me and the boat owner. So the judge said bring the boat owner, so the guards brought him and he said to the judge a gang of thieves attacked us, they were hidden and we could not recognize their faces, but the dog kept barking and barking.
So the judge said it seems the dog knows something, so he said to the guard go and check the matter with the dog, so the dog guided the guards to the thieves, so they bound the thief and brought him to the judge. When he came to the judge, he said to him what do you want from me oh judge? So he said to him confess to your crime oh thief, and tell us who your partners are now. So the thief said I am innocent, I did not do anything, but the dog had cut part of his clothes during the assault on the merchant, so the dog brought the piece. So the judge said oh guard take the piece of cloth that the dog brought and match it with the man’s clothes, so the guard said it matches his clothes.
So the thief said well I will confess to everything, I am the doer, and the judge ordered the guards to bring the rest of the thieves, and take the criminal to prison so that he receives his appropriate punishment, so the merchant said to the dog come with me, and he took him with him to his town.
