It is told that in the distant, very distant past, the Sun lived on Earth, just as the Sea lives on it. The Sun was used to visiting him from time to time, perhaps staying with him for a long time, exchanging enjoyable conversation with him, and conveying the news of this universe that was still a small infant.
The conversation between the Sun and the Sea: One day, the Sun noticed a matter that she confided to her friend the Sea. She said to the Sea: I have repeated my visit to you! The Sea answered: It’s generosity from you without doubt! She said: But you never returned the visit to me! The Sea answered: My circumstances prevent me from that, unfortunately! She said to him: What are these circumstances that stand between you and performing the duty?!
The Sea and the reason for not performing the duty: The Sea answered the Sun, saying to her: I am big, wide, and sprawling. Moreover, I have children, creatures, and many beings, including whales, fish, birds, lions, etc. I can’t leave them. Also, your house cannot accommodate them.
The Sun’s forgiveness with her friend the Sea and accepting his apology: She said to him: Your excuse is acceptable, and I have nothing but to build a large, huge house that accommodates the many friends coming to visit me, so you won’t have an excuse to justify not visiting me. The Sea said: Thank you for your generous invitation, and we must respond to it and be happy with our presence in your large palace.
The Sun’s house and the Moon’s help: The Sun started building the house, with the Moon helping her, her loyal husband. They both wanted the Sea and his helpers and companions to visit them, so together they built a large, spacious house to receive the guest and his followers, like the whale and the dolphin, then they invited him to favor them with a visit.
The invitation to visit the large house: The Sea asked: Is the house safe and sufficient for us? They said to him: Yes. The Sea said to them: Thank you for your generosity, nobility, and favor. The Sun said: The waters deserve all appreciation from us, for they are the origin of life. The Sea said: No one denies your favor, oh Sun of Life. The Sun answered: Come, oh Sea, we are waiting for you.
The Sea’s visit and the rising of the Sun and Moon: The waters started flowing, wave after wave, carrying with them all the creatures and beings that live in the sea, to enter the house of the Sun and Moon. They started rising… rising… rising… until there was no longer a place for the owners of the house. So they started ascending to the roof of the house, embarrassed, as they didn’t imagine the house would become so narrow for them!
The Sun and Moon: The waters started flooding all corners of the house, reached its ceiling and surpassed it in height to the roof. The Sun and Moon welcomed the guest, but were forced to leave the place and ascend higher… higher… higher… There was no longer any place for the Sun and Moon on the surface of the earth, because the Sea occupied their house, despite its spaciousness. The Sun and Moon settled in the blue sky, established themselves in it, for people to look at them and remember the extent of their generosity and existence.
The Sun, Moon, Sea, and the strong friendship relationship: During the day, the Sun would spread the sea waters with its light and provide them with warmth and heat. These, in turn, would convert some water into vapor that would rise up wishing to visit the Sun where she is in her sky. At night, the Moon would cover the surface of the waters with beautiful silver light that shines and sparkles. The Sea, in turn, would reflect this radiance to beautify the entire Earth planet.
Humans, the possessors of minds: The connection between the Sea, Sun, and Moon never ceased since their ascent to the sky. The friendship relationship remained eternal. Africans say: If this happens between these inanimate objects, it is befitting that it happens between humans, the possessors of intelligent minds!
