The events of the story take place in one of the Arab countries, about Goha, the famous character known for his intelligence and wit. When one of the village’s goats invited him to a dinner feast, and this goat was known for his severe miserliness. All the invitees were amazed by the heavy dinner that he had prepared for them. But when Goha arrived, the goat stood up to prevent the guests from eating food. Goha discovered his trick with his intelligence.

Beginning of the story: It is told that one day, one of the miserly goats of the village became very sick. He prayed to God to heal him, and God answered his prayer. So the miserly goat sent in search of Goha.

Goha and the Miserly Goat: Goha came to the miserly goat, congratulating him on his recovery from the severe illness. The goat said to Goha: “I have promised to hold a dinner feast when I recover from my illness. Now I want you to go with me to invite the friends.”

Goha went around, and the miserly goat went around the village, inviting the people and friends. Goha became very hungry from the abundance of fatigue and exhaustion, and continued in this condition until evening, without the goat providing him any food.

The Dinner: The goat ordered the servants to place the dishes over the tables. After a little while, the friends approached the miserly goat’s house. They were afraid of the order of the invitation’s owner, for they knew of his severe miserliness. When they entered the food room, they found a lot of food, including grilled lamb, various dishes, and sweets, and other delicious food spread over the table.

They were amazed, and Goha could no longer bear patience with hunger. So he approached and sat in front of the table, and the guests sat beside him. The servants brought hot soup that had a wonderful fragrance of tabbouleh rising from it. The goat took a spoonful of the soup and tasted it.

The Miserly Goat and the Servant: Then he turned to the servant and said to him: “How many times have I warned you not to put tabbouleh in the food?” The servant answered: “Oh master, this is necessary for food!” The goat said angrily: “Come, remove this bowl, and take it away from before us.” The servant removed the hot soup, and Goha tried to swallow his saliva without showing his swallowing. Then the goat looked at the grilled lamb, as if it were the best thing, and it had the fragrance of barbecues rising from it. So the goat turned to the servant.

He said to him: “Shame on you! Did I not order you not to put those barbecues in the eating?” The servant answered him: “It is necessary for food!” The miserly goat said to him: “Come, remove it immediately!” So the servant removed the grilled lamb, and Goha was pretending and suffering, looking at him with sad, miserable glances.

Then the servant brought the sweets, intending to distribute them from Goha this time, trying to avoid trouble. So the invitation owner shouted at him, saying: “Oh fool, how does Goha eat sweets before food?” So the servant served the sweets quickly, and Goha saw that all the food had been taken from in front of him. With the speed of lightning, Goha took a spoonful and hastened with it to the furthest plate placed on the table in front of him, which was covered with white cloth, and it had a wonderful fragrance rising from it, and he ate spoonful after spoonful.

So the invitation owner said to him: “Wait, Goha, until the sweets time comes!” Goha said to the miserly goat: “Oh master, excuse me a little to fill my stomach from your delicious food, while you are preparing those other dishes and intending to distribute them.”

One of Goha’s anecdotes.
