There was an elderly lady living in a village, and she had a very beautiful daughter. She loved cherries to the extent that she didn’t eat anything else for lunch or dinner. She wanted to eat only cherries. Everyone started calling her by the name Sherry, meaning cherry. There was also a clever lady living in the neighborhood of Sherry the girl. She was skilled in black magic, and in her garden were many cherry trees full of many cherries. Sherry used to sneak into the garden because she couldn’t resist taking some cherries.
Because of this, the sorceress was very angry. Sherry was also beautiful, with very long soft hair. Her face was radiant like the sun, and her features were so beautiful that the sorceress could hardly control her anger. One day, Sherry was gathering cherries in the garden. The sorceress saw her and couldn’t control her anger. She threw a magical spell at her and turned her into an ugly frog.
The king of that village had three sons and was old and very weak. The king said to his sons, “I’ll give you a mission, and whoever completes the mission will be the next king.” The first mission: I want velvet fabric so soft that it can easily pass through my ring. The three immediately went out to find such fabric. The two elder brothers bought many velvet fabrics from the market. The youngest, however, thought how this natural fabric could pass through his father’s ring. He walked very far, searching in many places but couldn’t find anything. He was very tired, so he decided to rest on the riverbank. Suddenly, a frog jumped out of the river and asked him, “Tell me what happened. You seem nervous.” She had a beautiful voice. After he told her that, the man said, “How can you help me, sister?” She said, “At least tell me why you’re worried.”
The prince told her the story. After she listened to him, she jumped into the river and returned with a small piece of fabric. She said, “Take this fabric, and it will help you.” The prince thought and said, “Something is better than nothing.” As soon as he approached the palace, the fabric increased in thickness. The king was happy because the three had brought fabric. He gave them the ring. When the elders tried, only part of the fabric could pass through the ring, and they failed. Then the king gave the youngest son the fabric. Everyone was amazed to see that piece return. It could easily pass through the fabric. The king gave them a new mission: he wanted a small dog that matches a walnut shell. The three started hunting. The mission was more difficult.
They walked thinking where you could find such a dog. The youngest prince started walking in the nearest forest. As soon as he felt tired, he sat near the riverbank to rest. Suddenly, he thought of the frog who had helped him the first time. Then he threw something into the river. The prince told her what had happened. She jumped into the river and returned with a dried piece. She said to him, “Take it and break it as soon as you reach the palace, and you’ll see the magic.” The two brothers failed, and he succeeded in his mission. The prince was happy.
The king said, “Now it’s time for the third and final mission. Whoever marries the most beautiful girl will be the next king.” The mission was easy, and they were extremely happy with it. They went to bring the most beautiful girls. But the youngest prince was sad and said this small frog couldn’t help him. He wandered in his thoughts. The frog met him. The prince told her everything. The frog said, “Don’t worry. Head toward the palace. As soon as you approach the palace, look behind you, but don’t laugh at your fault.” The prince was nervous and sad. Then, as soon as he approached the palace, he looked behind him. He found six mice pulling a cart made of pumpkins, and a large frog driving the cart. Inside, on a long chair, was his friend the frog. It was a strange scene. After a while, he saw a completely different cart pulled by two beautiful black horses. Inside was a beautiful girl. The prince recognized her that she was the frog from the river. The three entered the palace.
His two elder brothers had a large number of girls. As soon as Sherry entered the palace, everyone was enchanted by her. She became the queen of beauty because she was the most beautiful of them. The youngest prince announced that he was the king.
