It is told that in one of the forests a crow lived. The crow thought one day to mock the animals of the forest and deceive them, so he brought a box of yellow colors and began painting his black feathers with the yellow color.
When the crow had painted all his feathers and looked at himself in the mirror, he saw that his color had become yellow. The crow rejoiced at his new color and began moving among the trees. The crow went to the forest birds and told them that he was a canary bird that came from a distant forest to live with them in their forest. But that trick did not fool the forest birds.
They recognized him immediately. The birds advised the crow not to lie to them, for the consequence of lying is bad, and also Allah, blessed and exalted is He, does not love the liars. But the crow did not listen to the birds’ advice and insisted that he was a canary bird. The birds were saddened by the lying crow’s behavior, and all the birds turned away from him and left him alone.
The crow felt that he had wronged his bird brothers when he wanted to mock them and lie to them, but he was too proud to go, apologize to them, and ask them to forgive him for his lie. The crow began flying alone in the forest while sad, then landed on a tree and found under it a wolf. The crow did not know that the wolf was a cunning and swift animal, so when the wolf asked him about the reason for his sadness and his flying alone.
The crow answered, insisting on repeating his lie, that he was a bird from a distant land to live among the forest birds, but they all envied him for his beautiful yellow color, so they refused to befriend him and turned away from him.
The crow spread his yellow feathers before the cunning fox and said: I am the yellow canary, my color is the most beautiful of colors, and my voice is the most beautiful of voices. The cunning wolf knew that he was a crow bird, but he thought of a trick until he could eat him. He said to him: You are not the canary bird, for my friend the canary, when he sees me, descends and stands on my nose and keeps talking to me.
Immediately and without thinking, the crow flew and landed on the nose of the deceiving wolf to prove to him that he was his friend the canary. When the crow landed, the wolf opened his mouth and seized the crow between his jaws and said to him: I will eat you, you stupid crow, so that I can get rid of you and your annoying voice that makes me unable to sleep.
The crow tried to escape from between the wolf’s jaws but to no avail. Then the crow felt regret because he did not listen to the advice of his bird brothers, and realized that he had fallen between the wolf’s jaws as a result of his lie. He knew that the consequences of lying are dire, but after it was too late.
