There once lived a young boy named Samir who lived with his parents in a beautiful city known for its kind-hearted people. One Friday morning, Samir woke up and ate the breakfast his mother had prepared for him. As was his habit every Friday, he went to meet his friends to play in the park near their neighborhood.

After he finished breakfast, his mother advised him to be very careful and to watch his step, especially since city workers were carrying out excavations and there were many holes in the road. Samir said goodbye to his mother and headed off to meet his companions in the park.

While playing, Samir spotted a beautifully colored ball near a tree. As he approached to pick it up, it rolled backward as if someone were pulling it with a string. Samir stopped, and the ball stopped; he moved to grab it again, but it rolled away quickly, causing him to chase after it even faster until he suddenly fell into a large, deep pit.

Samir began to cry and scream, hoping someone would hear him and pull him out, but it was in vain. He tried to climb the walls by digging his fingers into the earth, but he could not succeed, and despair began to take hold of him. Time passed quickly and night fell, yet no one had heard Samir’s cries or his weeping.

Late that night, a man was passing by the pit and sensed a sound coming from within. The man paused for a moment, wondering what to do if the sound turned out to be a genie living inside the hole. However, he summoned his courage and shouted toward the pit, “Is anyone there?” Samir cried out in response, “Yes, I am here!” The man asked, “Are you human or a genie?” Samir quickly replied, “I am human! I am a little boy. Please save me—I fell into this pit this morning and no one noticed me,” and he began to cry bitterly.

The man told him to wait and stop crying, saying he would go get a rope and throw one end into the pit to pull him out. True to his word, the man returned with a rope and lowered it into the hole. Samir gripped it tightly, and the man pulled him to the surface, successfully rescuing him.

Samir rested and breathed a sigh of relief. The man asked for his address so he could return him to his family. When they arrived home, his parents thanked the man profusely for what he had done for their son. His mother took him in her arms and they both wept as he told her what he had endured that day. Samir apologized for not being careful as she had warned him, promising that in the future, he would watch his step and take better care of his safety.
