Satisfaction is a great blessing that many people do not enjoy, and it is from the gifts of God Almighty to His righteous servants, so if the servant is satisfied with God’s decree and fate for him and His provision, God is satisfied with him and increases His blessings to him, for everything with Him is by His measure.

But not everyone enjoys and turns away from that great blessing, for we see many complaining about their condition and not looking at the blessings that are between their hands, so they begin to complain from what God has provided them with, and make their life miserable by themselves and torment themselves over what God has provided them with, so God afflicts them with its consequences, and perhaps the state of satisfaction was the condition of this Saeed.

It is told that there was a poor fisherman who went out every day to the close sea to catch some fish, then he set out with what he had caught of God’s blessings to the market to sell them, then he would return with some of them as food for his family, and was content with what was in his home, and he used to praise God very much for what He had provided him with.

But Saeed’s wife was not satisfied with what God had provided them with, for she was constantly complaining, and she often blamed him for his fishing, and she was constantly demanding a lot of money, and telling him that she does not live like her neighbors or those she knew of the rich, for all of them are living in comfort and she is not. She told him he was lazy in fishing, not coming except with a little, and she desired more.

The poor fisherman Saeed went out worried and carrying his worry on his shoulders, desiring to catch more fish to satisfy his wife who does not desist from blaming him.

Saeed threw his net and remained beside it for a period of time, then pulled it and did not find any fish, so he threw it again for a period of time, empty, then pulled it to find it completely empty. He began to think and say to himself I am the most miserable and least fortunate of people, little provision and not enough. Which of the blessings that others enjoy do I have.

Here the sky darkened a little and thundered, then a beautiful houri appeared to the poor fisherman Saeed, so he asked her who she was. She answered him that she was an houri who had come to help him fulfill three wishes, and she ordered him to request whatever he wanted, but he had to wish what would benefit him first.

The poor fisherman Saeed went quickly to his wife and began to call to her with a raised voice, so she rose from her bed angry and blaming him that he had woken her with his voice. He told her what had happened to him with the houri, so the wife rejoiced and laughed a loud laugh, and she said while wishing herself with luxuries, we will live in luxury, and I will ask for jewelry and gold and silver and everything that is expensive and precious. We will enjoy comfort forever, and we will leave poverty behind us. So the husband said to her yes my dear, but we must be careful in what we request, as the houri advised me.

The couple sat thinking about what they must wish for, and from the severity of fatigue and exhaustion, the husband wished if he had a cup of tea now to drink and settle a little. In the blink of an eye, he found in his hand a cup of tea, so the wife looked at him with amazement and extreme anger and blamed him screaming on wasting his first wish for him.

During their argument, the husband said screaming I wish if a piece of meat would fall in my mouth now so I can rest from my sufferings with you. In the moment the wish was fulfilled that the husband had been laughing at a little, then he felt regret, so he wished to remove that meat from his wife’s mouth. It happened, and both of them sat on the ground, where the wife thanked him for wasting his third wish for her sake, and the husband said to her, not everything a person wishes for reaches him, and we must be completely satisfied with everything God has provided us with of provision. So the wife agreed with him on what he said.
