It is told that there was a child named Majid. The child Majid was very fond of food, and he loved to eat with his brothers at home on one table. So once, he filled his plate with meat and rice, and went out of the house heading to the garden of the home, and sat under the olive tree with its wide shade.
The Wild Cat in the Garden of the Home: Majid settled in that place to eat away from the eyes. But a cat smelled the food and the meat from a distant place, and began walking in the direction of the good smell, following its sense of smell, until he reached the olive tree. Majid found with him a plate full of good food. The cat’s eyes became green and yellow, and it licked its lips, and began approaching slowly to steal from the child some of the food he had in his plate.
The Sad Cat Cries and Is Pained: But Majid dealt with it harshly. So he took with his left hand a stone sharp and hard from the ground and threw it at the cat. The sad cat screamed and turned on its back from the severity of the blow. The stone hit the cat in its foot, which made it drag it far away with weak steps. Then it collapsed on the ground suffering from its foot pain, and crying without tears.
The Naughty Child: The cat was amazed by that naughty child and the reason for its harshness with it, so it did nothing to him. Then the cat calmed itself because it had gone to Majid, for it had to be patient until the child was full, perhaps the child intended to throw to it some of the remaining food after he was full. Then the cat returned dragging its foot, heading toward Majid again, and remained silent with the hope that he would leave Majid some of the food after he was full.
Majid the Lover of Food: But the naughty Majid emptied the plate of food entirely, without leaving anything in it. Rather, he licked the plate after it was completely empty, and went to sleep on his back on the ground, from the abundance of food and fullness, and went into deep sleep, without leaving anything for the cat.
Majid and the Great Serpent: But the cat licked its wound and obeyed its order at once coming greedily, and had sharpened its limbs. It went to sleep and raised its head while it was sleeping. During that time, a serpent of great size was greedy, descending to the garden nearby with its huge body toward the olive tree, the tree under which Majid was sleeping. The cat heard its hissing on the ground, so it rose towards it quickly, dragging its foot before it could reach what it wanted.
A Fierce Struggle: The cat remembered the pain of its foot and what Majid had done to it, so it stood to meet the serpent, began attacking it, and a fierce struggle took place between the cat and the serpent. The serpent bit it to attack the cat, but it did not feel it and moved its tail with force and rushed towards it to avoid its bite, until it was able to grab it by its tail and subdue it, and the fierce struggle ended in the cat’s favor.
The Cat Exhausted from Fatigue: For the cat overcame the serpent and killed it. All that while the child Majid was still sleeping. So his mother came to search for him in the garden. When she saw a large serpent dead on the ground, she thought that the serpent had killed her son. She screamed because she thought that the serpent had eaten him. She hurried towards him screaming and woke Majid from his sleep on the sound of his mother’s screaming. The mother realized that the serpent had killed it, saw the cat standing beside it exhausted from the fierce struggle that had taken place between it and that venomous serpent.
The Mother and the Kind Brave Cat: The mother looked at the cat with looks of gratitude for saving her son, and felt that Majid was remorseful for what he had done to that deceitful cat. And he told his mother that he had beaten the cat and not fed it from his food. The mother screamed in his face saying to him: Hurry and bring food immediately… and bring food for this kind animal that saved your life.
Majid and the Kind Cat: So Majid hurried inside the house and brought good food for the cat. And from that day, Majid and the cat became good friends. He does not eat food without feeding his cat from it.
