Every time I went to my grandmother’s house, I always saw a long wooden door, its length about three feet away from bookshelf in my grandmother’s house. She always warned me about approaching it, and despite that I was scared of it, I always felt a challenge to open this scary door someday.
Since I was born, the door was always in my grandmother’s house waiting for someone to open it. When I asked my mother what was behind the dark door, her answer was always: “You mean the scary door?” She would turn silent, pretend to answer her phone call, then become silent. I knew she didn’t even want to think about its existence in the house.
Eleven years had passed since I was born, and I still didn’t know what was behind the scary door, and what does it hide? No one in my family had any idea about the scary door, until a wonderful answer appeared one day in the twelfth year of my age.
Finally I knew the secret: We were at my grandmother’s house. The sun was shining through the window of my bedroom room this morning. I opened my eyes and got up from bed as if I had been struck from my sleep. My breathing stopped and my veins opened. Then I heard “thump thump thump!!!” I thought maybe my father was leaving the bedroom, then I heard “creak squeak!!” I thought again maybe my mother was walking down in the kitchen. When I left through the door, I didn’t hear any sound and didn’t smell any food. It’s 6:30 in the morning, I wondered where the sound came from!
I went to the bathroom, and saw the scary door slightly open. It can’t be the scary door; it’s always locked!! I walked a little to the water tap. The scary door was still visible. This can’t happen. I’ll go crazy!! The sweat was pouring from all my body. I was saying to myself “Go inside, go inside.” I went to make sure I hadn’t hallucinated. I knocked on the door, I felt my hand touch a hard board.
The scary door opened. I screamed and turned around to make sure I hadn’t woken anyone in the house. Fortunately the house was still quiet, peaceful. I took a deep breath. It was time to finally see what was behind the scary door.
Wonderful discovery: When I was about to push the door, I heard a musical sound emanating from the music box on the shelf of the desk. The tune reminded me of a concert in Paris. It gave me a little comfort to the present. Then suddenly!! The scary door opened. My eyes popped when I found myself standing before a wonderful museum of the ancient arts in Paris. This door is truly magical. I screamed with joy and amazement. Yes, I have finally known the secret of the scary door. And I went to my room. Five minutes truly…
Next day: I heard my mother calling. I realized I had fainted in sleep. I ran to the door to make sure the discovery of the magical door wasn’t a dream. First I made sure the door was truly wooden, not the scary wooden board. Yes the door was still open.
My friend!! And I gathered my books to travel to school, and I saw a black car from the best postcards my aunt sent me, because she had found a new job two years ago, so I hadn’t seen her since that time. Then I thought: “Why don’t I visit my friend!!”
I immediately said, “Good, take me to my friend’s house.” And as soon as I opened the magical door, I saw a beautiful white and purple house facing me. Immediately I ran toward the house, and the magical door was closing slowly without any noise.
After two hours, I heard the sound of feet toward the door. A woman with black hair opened the door. “Who is this visitor?” The woman said politely, “Welcome. Mrs. Zhu is sorry for the unexpected visit. May I see my friend Rosali?” Mrs. Zhu said, “Rosali is on the upper floor of the house.”
“Rosali, here it is,” her mother said to her with a big smile, heading toward the stairs. Immediately Rosali ran to the front door. “Rosali,” her mother screamed. Rosali, how did you come here, and how will you return?" Rosali asked with a great surprise.
“Don’t worry. I’ll write you a letter,” she said to her, “Good and farewell. Go to school now and return from where you came.” I went to school and left the scary door to go to school, then I climbed the school stairs. Finally I felt life is wonderful by the favor of the scary door. I think I’m the best.
