It is told that there was a certain man in the city who claimed that there was a frog in his stomach that he had swallowed. He constantly complained that the presence of that frog in his stomach caused him much suffering and severe pain. When the man’s suffering increased greatly.
Finally, after the man’s long suffering due to the presence of the frog he claimed was in his stomach, the man decided to go to the city’s doctors and began visiting all the doctors in the city, one by one. Every time he went to a doctor, he would tell him about the frog in his stomach that he suffered from greatly.
Every time the man went to a doctor and explained the matter, the doctor would immediately examine the man and his stomach thoroughly, but in the end, nothing would be detected in the examination, nor would he discover the presence of a rabbit or anything else in his stomach as the man claimed. The man kept complaining as before, leaving one doctor and going to another, and so on, all without benefit or result.
As more time passed for the man, his suffering and impact increased, and his health condition deteriorated little by little. One day, one of the man’s friends who lived with him in the same village was sitting in one of the village’s cafes when he heard sad news about his friend and what had befallen him, that his complaints were increasing day by day but to no avail, as the doctors denied that something like that could happen to him.
The man was saddened by what he heard about his friend and didn’t hesitate. He immediately got up and hurried to his sick friend, telling him about the existence of a doctor who was considered one of the most famous, experienced, and distinguished doctors in treating unusual and very intractable medical conditions. When the man told his friend this, he saw joy fill his friend, who smiled as if doors of hope had opened before him again.
Immediately the two friends went to visit the doctor, and the man told him what he complained of and what he suffered day and night due to the frog. The doctor heard the man’s complaint and examined him thoroughly, but even this time with this doctor, nothing was detected of a frog or anything else in the patient’s stomach.
The doctor decided to tell him the truth, that there was nothing in his stomach, but he reconsidered and thought for a few moments because the man’s reaction was ambiguous to the doctor, and he wanted to be famous and not have anyone speak of him as a failure. And indeed the doctor confirmed to the man that there was a frog in his stomach and surgery must be performed. The man immediately agreed. The doctor asked his assistants to bring him a small frog. When the man woke from anesthesia, the doctor told him he had gotten rid of the frog. The man rejoiced and lived in peace.
From here it should be noted that we very often are the main cause of deceiving ourselves, feeling terror and anxiety, and imagining things to ourselves that have no basis in truth.
