Once there was a crow who was always thinking that God Almighty had given all birds colors. Once he saw peacock feathers fallen on the ground. He thought and said: “I must place these among my feathers. After that, I will become a peacock, then I will leave the crows and become one of the peacocks.” The crow felt overwhelming happiness.

He quickly gathered the peacock feathers and placed them one by one among the feathers on his body. He began walking like a peacock. When one of the older crows saw him, he said to him: “Everything you do is useless. A person doesn’t become a peacock just by placing some peacock feathers on himself. Understand.”

The crow didn’t like these words and said: “Now who wants to remain among the crows must go and stay with the peacocks.” So he said that and flew far away. He actually reached where the peacocks lived. The world began to rain light rain. All the peacocks began bathing in the rain. Some were arranging their hair and enjoying themselves, while others were puffing up their feathers and displaying their dancing skills.

The crow went among the peacocks and began trying to puff up his feathers gently, but he didn’t know how to puff feathers. He tried endlessly but couldn’t do it. Then the peacocks began singing. The crow thought and said: “I must master singing like them.” So he too opened his mouth to sing. The sound began to come out of him. As soon as they heard his voice, the peacocks were surprised and said: “How does this crow exist among us?” As soon as they saw the peacock feathers among the crow’s feathers, they began laughing loudly and attacked the crow with great anger until the feathers fell. Then they pulled off his feathers. Thus the crow returned to his flock.

When they saw him, one of the small crows said: “You are not one of us. Go away quietly.” Then the older crow entered and said: “He has received enough punishment for what he did. Don’t punish him more than that.” Then he turned to the crow and said: “You fool. You didn’t listen to what I told you. Didn’t you suffer enough from placing peacock feathers on yourself?”
