There was a beautiful lake surrounded by lush green grass, beautiful trees, and mountains from all sides. On the shores of this lake grew the most delicious banana trees. On top of these trees lived a large monkey for a period of time. In that lake also lived a small number of crocodiles.

There was one crocodile who came every day to collect banana fruits that fell from these trees. This crocodile visited the trees every day until he became an intimate friend of the monkey. The crocodile and the monkey met every day and played together. The monkey also helped the crocodile by providing more fresh banana fruits from the tree. Their strong relationship with each other continued until they became close.

One day, the crocodile asked the monkey for some fruits to give to his wife and small children. The fruit that day was very delicious. The monkey agreed and gave him lots of delicious banana fruit. The crocodile took it to his wife and children and departed.

His wife was extremely happy, and when she ate the fruit, she found it very delicious. She asked her husband how he got it. The crocodile told her about his friend the monkey who lived on the banana tree, helped him, and provided him with that delicious fruit.

His wife asked him: Does the monkey eat every day from this delicious fruit? The crocodile said to her: Yes. She said: What a lucky monkey, eating from that wonderful fruit. Imagine, my dear, how the taste of his heart would be. It must be delicious! You must bring him to me so I can eat his delicious heart.

The crocodile was shocked by his wife’s desire and said to her: But he’s my close friend, I can’t do that to him. The wife insisted on him repeatedly and said to him: You must lure him into the water, for he certainly doesn’t know how to swim.

After a period of persistent insistence from his wife, the crocodile gave in and agreed to bring the monkey to his wife. While the monkey was eating banana fruit from the tree, the crocodile came and invited him to share eating a new kind of delicious food, but he made it a condition that he cross with him to the other bank of the lake.

The monkey agreed with great happiness and said to the crocodile: But I don’t know how to swim, so how will I cross the lake? The crocodile said to him: Don’t worry, you only need to ride on my back, and I will take you safely to the other shore.

Indeed, the monkey agreed and rode on the crocodile’s back, holding onto him with all his strength so he wouldn’t fall into the lake and drown. The crocodile tried to push the monkey into the water more than once, but the monkey was holding onto him strongly, so he didn’t fall into the water.

The monkey began to suspect the crocodile’s intentions and asked him to tell the truth. The crocodile said to him: My wife insisted on me to bring you to her to eat your delicious heart. The clever monkey said to him: My dear friend, you should have said this before we crossed the lake. I left my heart on one of the tree branches because I don’t carry it when I travel a long distance. If you take me to the tree, perhaps I can bring the heart for you.

Indeed, the crocodile agreed to return the monkey to the tree. When he brought him to the shore, the monkey jumped and climbed the tree. He said to the crocodile: I thought you were my friend, but you deceived me. I will never be your friend again after today. The crocodile understood that the monkey had also deceived him. He returned to his wife empty-handed, but after losing his loyal friend.
