One day, a grandmother named Suad sat on her special chair. While she was sitting on the chair, she was making a beautiful scarf from wool for her granddaughter. The grandmother was very much enjoying the scarf she was making for her granddaughter. While she was sitting, her granddaughter Samira entered - she was the younger granddaughter. The grandmother found her extremely sad.
The grandmother said to Samira, “What’s the matter with you, my dear granddaughter? Why do you seem this sad, my daughter?” Samira replied to her grandmother, “There’s a black chick in the chicken coop who doesn’t want to eat, and he sits alone.” The grandmother said, “Perhaps he doesn’t want to eat food now, my Suad. Don’t worry, my dear, there’s no need for anxiety.”
Samira said to her grandmother, “No, my grandmother. When that chick approaches food, the other chicks don’t allow him to eat and immediately strike him with their beaks. I feel very sad for him.” Here, the grandmother went with Samira, and they both went up together to the roof of the house to discover the matter of the chickens above it.
That black chick stood broken, alone, far from the other chicks. In front of him were a few grains of wheat and simple drops of water. He was eating alone, dejected and far from the other chicks. Samira said to the grandmother, “Why are these chicks so evil in this way, my grandmother? And why don’t they want to eat with that black chick?”
The grandmother said to her, “Perhaps because those chicks don’t love his black color, my dear. But one day they will recognize his value.” Samira said to the grandmother, “Will they truly recognize his value, my grandmother?” The grandmother said to Samira, “Don’t worry, my little one. Come with me, and I’ll tell you the story of the fleeing chick to you.”
The grandmother Suad went down with her little granddaughter Samira to the house below. They both sat together, conversing. The grandmother sat on her special chair, then began the story, saying, “Once upon a time, it was told that in ancient times, there was a remote, distant forest filled with tall, high trees, and many types of numerous, different animals and birds - some small and some large, in all shapes.”
