Janey woke up and went to the kitchen to prepare breakfast for herself and her dragon, as she did every morning. She placed a plate of sausages for the dragon, a glass of milk, and a banana for herself. She called the dragon, but he didn’t respond. She went to search for him throughout the house but couldn’t find her dragon. She went out to the garden to look for him and felt movement behind one of the bushes. When she looked there, she found a dog playing with a ball.
The dog saw the sadness evident on Janey’s face and asked her: “What’s wrong? Did you lose my dragon, my favorite friend, and I don’t know what to do without him?” The dog said: “I will be your favorite friend.” Janey answered: “You’re beautiful and kind, but my dragon is special among all creatures, and I won’t replace him with anyone.”
Janey went to search for the dragon in the children’s playground near her home. She called and called, but no one responded, until she noticed some dirt flying from the ground. She approached and found a strange creature busy digging. She interrupted him, asking politely: “What’s your name? Have you seen a huge dragon passing through here?” The strange creature said: “I’m the gnome. Why do you want to find the dragon?” She answered: “He’s my favorite friend.” The gnome said: “I will be your favorite friend. Help me with the digging.” Janey thought and said: “It seems what you’re doing is fun, and you’re a strange and special creature, but my dragon always helps me when I need him, and I won’t replace him with anyone.”
Janey continued her journey until she heard a noise in one of the trash bins in an alley. She went to investigate and found a group of funny strange creatures eating leftover pizza from the trash. She asked: “Have you seen a blue dragon flying around?” They answered in one voice: “No, we haven’t seen anything.” They said: “You won’t need a dragon when you join the funny Booboo creatures. Let’s eat leftover food from the trash.”
Janey thought a little and said: “It seems you enjoy your time, but I love eating apricots, and certainly I don’t like eating leftover food from the trash. I’ll go find my dragon.” Janey continued walking until she began to notice some burned trees on both sides of the road. She followed them, hoping to find the dragon until she reached a lake. Finally, she found her dear dragon. The dragon was exhausted and holding a box of tissues. She asked him: “What are you doing here?” He wiped his nose and said: “I have a cold and can’t stop sneezing, so I came here so I wouldn’t burn more things.” Janey smiled and said: “Don’t worry, I’ll take care of you until you recover, my friend. A friend in need is a friend indeed.”
