It is told that one hot summer day, Sara went out with her brother Sami and some of their friends to enjoy playing on the beach and building the most beautiful palaces from the sand, and to get rid of the heat of the weather and enjoy the cool sea breezes and its refreshing air. Their mother prepared a number of sandwiches for them and equipped them with a basket of juices and water. Sara also did not forget to bring her sand playing tools with her. Their grandfather took them all to the beautiful sea beach.

When they arrived at the beach, they found that the sea waters were far from the shore, and the rocks in the sea appeared pointed with swamps of mud and mire. Sara held her grandfather’s hand fearfully and asked him: Why did the sea waters go far from the shore, oh grandfather? And when will they return again?

The grandfather told her while fixing the umbrella on the beach that the sea waters had receded backward because of the low tide. Sara asked about the meaning of low tide, so the grandfather answered: The sun and moon affect the sea, so its waters keep moving forward and backward throughout the day.

Sara remained under the umbrella enjoying the warm sun rays and the soft sea sand with her eyes closed. Suddenly, she felt the sea waters wetting her legs. Sara felt overwhelming happiness sweeping over her. Sara whispered to herself: Where have these beautiful waters been since the morning?

Sara was surprised when she heard the sea whispering words. Sara approached the sea to hear what it was saying. She heard the sea saying: I went because I was extremely sad and felt angry at people. Sara asked the sea: And why are you sad, oh beautiful sea, and angry at people? We all love you and come to visit you every year. Children fill your shore to enjoy the sand and your pleasant breeze.

The sea whispered addressing Sara again: I love them very much, and that is why I overwhelm them with my waters, moisten the air for them with my breezes, carry to them my goods of fish and shells, and delight their eyes with the blue of my waters. But do you know what they return to me for all I do for them? Look around you, oh Sara, and tell me what you see when I move away from the shore. Sara looked at the shore and saw piles of waste and food leftovers, old pieces of clothing, candy bags, empty juice bottles, some intact and others broken. Sara understood what the sea meant.

The sea whispered again and said to Sara: Did you see, oh Sara, what people do to me, while I am the cause of their happiness, and they fill my waters with pollution, as well as the ships that sail in me leave their exhaust inside me, causing sadness to the fish and creatures that live inside me. I fear that my fish and the beautiful creatures that live inside me will die because of pollution. So do not be surprised, oh Sara, that I have become sad and try to stay away from you.

Immediately, Sara hurried and brought a bag and began to collect waste and leftovers around her. She called her brother and friends to help her, saying to them: Come on, oh friends, let us make the sea happy as it makes us happy, so it knows that we all love it and will not leave us and go.
