Once there was a miller who had a beautiful daughter. Her father always praised her, but unfortunately, he often lied about his daughter’s abilities. The daughter was often angry with her father because of his lies. He would apologize to her and promise her that he wouldn’t lie again, but he soon went back on his promises.

One day, the miller went to the king and began telling him about his daughter. He told the king that she could spin gold from straw. The king was very happy and asked the miller to bring his daughter to the palace. The miller was confused and feared for himself and his daughter. When he told her, the girl didn’t know what to do. But they had no choice but to go to the king’s palace, otherwise he would kill them.

The girl arrived with her father at the palace, afraid and not knowing what to do. The king prepared a room for the girl, put three piles of straw in it, and asked her to turn them into gold. But she didn’t know how, so she sat inside the room crying in fear of the king’s revenge.

While she was crying, a small dwarf appeared before her. She was amazed and asked him: “Who are you?” He answered her: “I won’t tell you who I am, but I’ll help you, but I want something from you in return. What will you give me?” She said to him: “This is my golden necklace. Take it and help me.” The dwarf took the necklace and spun gold from the straw.

The girl was very happy. When the king came and saw the gold, he was happy, but he was greedy, so he brought more straw for the girl and asked her to turn it into gold. The girl was sad and sat crying a second time. Suddenly, the dwarf appeared again. She was happy when she saw him and gave him her golden ring, and the dwarf turned the straw into gold.

When the king came and saw the gold, he became even greedier and brought more straw for the girl, telling her that if she spun the straw for him this time, he would marry her. When the dwarf came, he told her that he wouldn’t spin the gold for her unless she gave him a promise. The girl asked the dwarf: “What is the promise you want?” He said to her: “Promise me that you’ll give me the first girl you give birth to when you marry the king.”

The girl promised him that she would give it to him, but she didn’t know how she would fulfill the promise. She married the king, and after a year, she gave birth to a small beautiful girl whom she loved very much. She had forgotten about the dwarf. Suddenly, while she was sitting with her daughter, the dwarf appeared before her a second time. The girl was sad this time when she saw him, because he would take her daughter whom she loved very much from her. She refused to give him her daughter, but he told her that she must fulfill her promise and that he would come after a week to take the girl by force, unless she knew the dwarf’s name.

The girl was confused because she didn’t know his name. The girl spent the whole week thinking about the dwarf’s name. She thought of many names but not the dwarf’s name. The girl was very afraid. While she was sitting thinking, one of the palace guards came to her and told her he had seen something strange in front of the palace.

The girl asked him: “What is this thing?” He told her: “I saw a strange dwarf dancing and jumping in front of the palace, singing a song and saying: I am Rumpelstiltskin.” The girl knew that this was the dwarf’s name. She sat happy because she would be able to keep her beloved daughter.

After the week passed, the dwarf came to take the girl. He asked the girl: “Did you learn my name?” The girl pretended at first that she didn’t know, then said to him: “Your name is Rumpelstiltskin.” The dwarf became extremely angry and began hitting the ground forcefully with his feet until the earth split in two, and the dwarf disappeared inside it forever.
