Muhammad screamed loudly, groaning when the dentist wanted to examine his teeth. The dentist smiled and patted his back, saying to him: Don’t be afraid, dear, I will give you anesthesia. The dentist held a syringe and gave little Muhammad a strong injection in his mouth. Muhammad cried out from its strength, but the skilled dentist quickly extracted the damaged tooth.

The dentist held the tooth and placed it in front of Muhammad, saying to him: Look at this damaged tooth. I have wronged it. This tooth died because of your neglect, little one. If you had washed your teeth with a brush and toothpaste, or if you had used the miswak, this tooth would not have decayed and would have remained sound performing its work in your mouth.

The mother looked at her little one with astonishment and did not speak. At home, little Muhammad sat before his mother, sad, with medical cotton filling his mouth. He could hardly speak and spoke to his mother with extreme difficulty, saying:

I apologize, mother. I made a mistake. The mother looked at her little one with anger and said to him: You haven’t washed your teeth for a while as I told you. You lied to me. The little one lowered his head and spoke with great apology, saying: I apologize, mother. Forgive me. I will wash my teeth constantly with brush and toothpaste.

Muhammad went to his room and slept on his bed. Then silence prevailed for a period of time, and the big tooth looked at his friends with anger, saying to them: Are you pleased with what Muhammad did to our brother? He left him without washing him, so it decayed and the doctor extracted it from its place.

Our friend has died, and the cause is Muhammad. I believe that after him we must save ourselves. Let’s leave him. The teeth and molars came out of Muhammad’s mouth and left his mouth empty. In the morning of the next day, Muhammad woke up and discovered his teeth had fled. He said to himself: This is better. I now won’t be busy cleaning and washing them. They are useless things.

His mother’s voice rose calling him to eat breakfast. Muhammad smiled and shouted loudly: All right, mother. Muhammad sat at the dining table, held bread, cut a small piece from it, took a piece of cheese and put it with the bread in his mouth. He tried to chew it but could not. He took a long time to chew the bite of food.

When he swallowed it, he felt extreme difficulty in swallowing that made him hurry to take a cup of water and drink a large amount of water. His mother wondered. Muhammad tried to hide what was happening but could not because his mother noticed him and said to him calmly: Why can’t you chew food, Muhammad?

Muhammad stuttered, saying: It seems the place of the tooth still hurts me. Muhammad hid the matter from his mother and went to his school. Day after day passed, and Muhammad ate nothing. The mother noticed this matter and sat beside him, saying to him: What has happened to you, my son?!

Muhammad cried, saying: Mother, my teeth left me. I feared they too would die and leave me alone. Muhammad cried bitterly at the separation from his teeth, looked at his mother with tears filling his eyes, and the mother said calmly, patting his shoulders: Will you wash your teeth as I told you with brush and toothpaste?

Muhammad looked at his mother, tears welling from his eyes, and said calmly: I promise, mother. I will wash my teeth with brush and toothpaste morning and evening. The mother smiled, saying: I will give you another chance to keep your teeth… Do we agree? Muhammad smiled, saying: Yes, we agree.

The mother patted her little one’s back, saying to him: Wake up, Muhammad… Wake up, Muhammad. Muhammad opened his eyes to his mother’s smiling face, looked at the place he was in, searched for his teeth, and found everything as it was. Muhammad smiled, saying to his mother: Was I dreaming, mother? The mother said smiling: Yes, little one.

Muhammad kissed his mother’s face and embraced her, saying: Praise be to Allah… You are truly beautiful, mother. Muhammad lifted the cover from himself and ran quickly toward the bathroom. His mother asked him with wonder: What will you do?

He said to her, holding the toothbrush: I will fulfill my promise to you, mother. I will wash my teeth as you told me, morning and evening. The mother wondered at Muhammad’s words and spoke to herself in a low voice, saying: When did he tell me this? But it doesn’t matter.
