Juha was on his way to the market when he saw a crowd of people in front of the butcher’s shop. He went to investigate the matter. When Juha approached, he saw the butcher holding one of his friends. Juha asked him saying: What’s the matter, oh man? The butcher said: I lent this man the price of three kilograms of meat, and whenever I asked him for it, he would delay me.

Juha Pays His Friend’s Debt: Juha took out his money bag, then said: How much is the debt, oh man? The butcher answered him: Three dinars, oh master. Juha said to the butcher: Here, take your right. One of the people said: Juha saved his friend from a big predicament. Another said: The butcher and Juha’s friend would go to the judge. Juha paid his friend’s debt, then they walked together.

Juha and His Friend: His friend said to him while they were on the way: Thank you, Juha. Thank you, oh my dear faithful friend. If not for you, I wouldn’t be in a good state. Juha replied to him saying: Thank Allah who put me in your path. The man invited Juha saying to him: Please come to our house, it’s near here, oh Juha. Juha answered him, apologizing: We’ll do that another day because I’m engaged in some work, oh friend. Then he left.

Juha and the Return Home: Juha returned home. His wife looked at him in wonder and said to him: What’s wrong with you, oh man? You returned quickly, and you don’t have the requirements you went out to buy from the market. Juha answered her: I saved a friend from a predicament and postponed the requirements.

Juha and His Friend Meet by Chance: After several days, Juha met his friend on the way. His friend said to him: I waited for you at my house all the previous days to return what I owe you. Here I am now inviting you to come with me. Juha said to him: Oh friend, I don’t have time now. I’ll come later.

Thus the situation continued. Whenever Juha met his friend, he said to him: I waited for you, and I burdened myself and prepared what I owe you in debt, and you didn’t come, oh Juha. Juha said to him: Oh friend, you know the location of my house. If you owe me a debt, bring it.

Avoiding the Debt: Days passed, and the friend didn’t come to Juha’s house. Juha decided to go to the friend’s house and demand the debt he owed him. When Juha approached the friend’s house, he saw him looking from the window. The friend saw Juha coming, so he quickly withdrew inside and closed the window.

Juha’s Intelligence: Juha knocked on the door. His friend’s wife asked from inside: Who’s knocking? Juha said: If my friend has no objection, I came to visit him. His friend’s wife said: Your friend went out a while ago and will be very sorry when he learns of your gracious visit in his absence.

When Juha heard the reply, he said in a loud voice: Well, oh friend’s wife, but tell the friend that when he leaves the house again, he shouldn’t forget his head in the window, because people will think he’s in the house and accuse him of bad behavior and eating people’s rights.

From Juha’s anecdotes.
