Once upon a time, oh fortunate one, there was a child named Ahmed who had a brother named Omar. The brothers always loved playing football with the ball their father had bought for them. The boys only enjoyed playing with the ball inside the house they lived in. The mother had warned them repeatedly to play football outside, in the spacious garden of the house, but the two children refused to listen to their mother.

One day, the boys took the ball and began playing in the house. While they were playing, and during one of the kicks they were directing at each other, without either paying attention, suddenly the ball collided with the glass window of the house. Without any warning, the window glass fell and shattered completely from the impact. The boys felt fear and deep regret.

The mother heard the sound of glass from afar and hurried, fearful that some harm had befallen one of her sons. She immediately went to see what that loud sound was that had echoed throughout the entire house. The mother found her two sons away and neither had suffered any harm, but she found that the glass window in the house had broken and was completely shattered, with glass everywhere.

The mother felt intense anger and sadness toward her sons because she had warned them before, but they hadn’t listened to her words. The mother approached the two boys and asked inquiringly, “Which of you two naughty boys broke the window glass and shattered it like this?” The boys were silent for a moment, each looking at the other. Ahmed said in a quiet voice, tears filling his eyes, trembling with intense fear, “I’m the one who broke the window glass, Mom, but I didn’t mean to do it. Believe me, I apologize to you, Mom. I’m truly sorry.”

The child Ahmed didn’t just apologize to his mother, but he also promised her not to repeat his action again and never play football in the house a second time, and he would play in the house garden as the mother had requested before. Likewise, the child Omar apologized to his mother for not listening to her from the beginning, promising her to play in the garden afterwards and never play ball in the house again.

Do you know what the mother did? The mother forgave her two sons on condition they not repeat it again. Do you know why? Because the two boys didn’t lie to the mother, confessed the truth with utmost honesty, and apologized to her. Each of them truly felt deep regret for what each had done. The mother encouraged her sons to be brave and always speak truthfully because it saves its owner. Let us all speak truthfully without fear or terror, for God is watching over us, and if we lie and don’t speak the truth, God will be very angry with us.
