There was a group of ten friends whose names were Nemrata, Booga, Kagari, Latica, Aisha, Moni, Jitika, Rita, Barol, and Brianka. Those ten girls became famous for the strength of their friendship and their constant presence together in school and outside school. They were even given the nickname (The Gang).

One day, the ten friends went to school. Nemrata noticed a paper posted on the bulletin board. She approached to read what was mentioned in it. Suddenly she shouted with her loud voice: Come on, comrades! The teacher has posted the suggested places for the school trip for this week.

The friends ran toward the bulletin board to see the places that the teacher had mentioned in the paper, which would be their destination for that holiday. When the other students heard Nemrata’s call, they also hurried toward the bulletin board.

Voices of students emerged around the bulletin board, each shouting about their favorite place where they wanted the school trip to be. Brianka was the most leadership-oriented and enthusiastic girl in that group. She was also more aggressive. She shouted and said: So where will we go on this trip after all that shouting and conflict that is happening? She kept listing the names of the places again so that everyone could answer her question. Voices rose, opinions differed, and the friends expressed different desires. They did not agree on a specific place.

The teacher heard their shouting and ordered them to head toward the classroom. The students and the ten friends entered the classroom and sat down quietly. The teacher asked them about their choice for the trip place. Students’ voices began to rise again, each shouting about their favorite place.

The teacher became angry and asked the students for silence. She requested that each one write their desire on a paper, and the trip would be the place that received a large number of votes. The next day, the students and friends went to school, eager to know the result of the voting about the trip place.

The teacher told them that the choice had fallen on one of the mountainous places where they would practice mountain climbing. The time of the trip arrived, and the school bus headed toward the trip place. A quarrel broke out among the ten friends about sitting in the seats adjacent to the window.

But the teacher intervened quickly and told them that the journey would take two hours, so part of the students could sit next to the window the first hour, then exchange with the rest the other hour.

After two hours passed, the students arrived at the trip place. They got off the school bus and began climbing the mountain. From the height of the mountain paths, the beauty of the valley was indescribable, but the path was dangerous and narrow. Every step had to be placed with care.

The friends continued climbing the mountain until their friend Moni felt tired and requested to take a rest. While she was walking to sit in some place, she felt her feet slipping and shouted: Help, help!

The friends looked back. Moni had actually fallen about 10 feet below, on a narrow edge and was holding onto a weak clump of wild grass. There was no way they could pull her up, so they had to think of something quickly. They all looked at the steep drop to the valley below and rushed from the horror of the scene. Jitika suggested that they hold their hands together and one of them extend his hand toward Moni to hold her and then pull her up.

But some felt that they would not be able to rescue their friend Moni. However, Jitika kept encouraging them and assured them that their cooperation might rescue their friend. Indeed, the nine friends lined up in a single row, holding each other.

Jitika extended her hand toward Moni, held her, and asked the friends to continue holding and pulling. Those moments passed as if they were years of fear and terror until they finally succeeded in rescuing their friend Moni. She offered them more words of thanks and hugged them. Truly, a friend must exist in times of difficulty.
