In a moment of Thaer’s immersion in a football game, and his teammate passing the ball to him to shoot at the opponent’s goal, rain began to pour down. Thaier shot powerfully but slipped, and the ball hit the crossbar, bouncing back to him. He jumped with all his strength and with a header, he put it inside the goal. Applause rose, and Thaier rolled in mud from his head to the soles of his feet. Smiles appeared on the faces of the players, who dispersed, drenched by the heavy rain.
Sudden Thunder and Unjustified Fear: Thaier remained alone looking at his ball from inside the net. Suddenly, the sound of thunder roared. He fled, terror on his face. Thaier stopped, remembering his ball. He began stepping forward and backward, hesitating: Should he return to take his ball or leave it and go? But he surprised himself with an audible question, saying: If the sound of thunder is caused by two clouds colliding with each other, why am I afraid?!
No Fear of Thunder: Thaier added, answering himself: The sound of thunder won’t frighten me as long as I know the reason. With slow steps, Thaier headed toward his ball, which was floating on a spot of water inside the goal. He carried it and began removing the mud from it with the pouring rainwater. He placed it on the ground and began to wash himself with the collected raindrops in his small palms, contemplating them in thought. The weather was pleasant and gave him enough time to think deeply. Various thoughts and images occurred to Thaier, so he imagined the journey of the water drops he was holding in his hands.
Thaier Contemplates Raindrops: He whispered, delighted, saying: This drop came from the Atlantic Ocean, this from the Indian Ocean, this from the Mediterranean Sea, and that from the Arabian Gulf. I smell the scent of the blue whale and the white whale too. These whales must have touched those drops during their passage. My God, how beautiful this is! These drops gather from all the oceans and seas of the world to form a handful of water in my hands.
Raindrops Traveling Across the World: Thaier turned to his ball swimming in a stream formed by rainwater. He walked following it, repeating in joy: These drops harmonized and synchronized with love to make something wonderful and give without compensation, without boasting, saying: I’m from the west and east, or south and north.
The Home and Parents’ Anxiety: The sound of thunder increased, and lightning created a beautiful crack of colors in the sky, but fear crept into Thaier again. He returned running to his home, clothes soaked. His parents were anxious about his delay in such rainy weather. The mother scolded her son with affection and care. As for the father, he was watching his son’s face, on which features of strange daydreaming appeared!
Harmonization of Rain Grains: After Thaier bathed and changed his clothes, the father invited him to talk. Thaier recounted to his father what had happened with him. The father’s happiness was indescribable for this experience his son had lived and the many questions that resulted from it. The father continued, saying: How much we need love and harmony, just as the rain grains harmonized, to live with tranquility in this world.
